Man Vs Second Life 2

Back in November I posted Man Vs Second Life, a hilarious blast from the past video created in 2008. Sean Krueger, the guy who made it, did a second video and uploaded that one in 2010. Man Vs Second Life 2 is also funny. I do find it amusing that “Adam Steele” goes on a hunt for SL noobs when he himself is still using default newbie avatar circa 2007 and no AO.

Sgt Pepper Outfits

Last night one of the original SL Beatles came to Penny Lane to hang out with us. He used to be “George” in the SL Beatles circa 2007, but had not logged into Second Life since 2012. “John” of the SL Beatles aka Timothy Falta was there too so naturally this reunion resulted in the guys putting on their Sgt Pepper outfits for old times’ sake. I didn’t get a picture of

How To Find Interesting Places in Second Life

Thinking of exploring Second Life? Here’s some tips I’ve learned over the years that help me find interesting places. Use SL search “places” tab. Type in what interests you, and don’t be afraid to experiment. Many people put in items they want to buy or place names, but you can often find cooler stuff if you think outside the box. Is there a word you like? One that describes you personally? Try putting it

I Hate Linden Love

In my opinion the most annoying sentence ever uttered within the world of Second Life is this one: “Show some linden love.” The word “linden” and the word “love” should never be used side by side. This is nothing against THE Lindens (as in the employees of Linden Lab) but refers to lindens = money. Basically this phrase is saying “Show some money love.” It’s cringeworthy. It has been said

Need More Cowbell

Second Life is a multicultural experience, so sometimes things that make people laugh in one country only produce a raised eyebrow in another. It may surprise some Americans to hear this but the show Saturday Night Live is usually only viewed in the USA, so if Blue Oyster Cult’s song Don’t Fear The Reaper comes on and someone shouts “Needs more cowbell!” it’s likely only Americans will laugh. There are exceptions, but in general

Has Second Life Helped You?

Many people claim Second Life has been beneficial to their mental and emotional well being. Has it helped you? When I was new in 2007, my first life was a horror. The virtual world became my escape and, looking back, I am not sure how I would have coped without SL for a bit of relief. I do not claim SL is a cure-all or even inherently good, but I believe it can be

Everybody Was Kung Foo Fighting

Since some of you seem interested in dances, I’ll talk more about them this week. I’m trying to visit some of the dance places inworld, but it takes time. Today I was at Ministry of Motion and, sadly, I did not find any suitable dances for myself there. The place does, however, have some novelty moves like “Elvis” that may interest people for a special event. I also found a free kung

Finding a Good Dance

When I look for dance animations I type “dances” into the Second Life search under the places and classifieds tabs. If a location specializes in dance animations I go there. Here’s some things I’ve learned over the years about dance shopping. Wear an outfit that is typical of what you’d wear when you dance. If you regularly go to a certain club and dress up, wear those clothes instead of your jeans.

Telling it Like it Is

We live in a world populated by flawed humans. Some people are more compassionate than others, smarter than others, or have a bigger moral compass, but none of us are perfect. When dealing with people for any length of time it’s inevitable to face situations that require us to decide if we should address a certain issue or zip our lips and overlook. I find it’s usually best to overlook. If someone behaves badly it’s

Planet Earth is Blue: R.I.P. David Bowie

I had something else to post today, but how can I when David Bowie has just died? We’ve just lost one of the greatest rock stars of all time. How can we possibly think of anything else today? David Bowie was one of my all-time favourites. I’ve always been in awe of him and his exceptional songwriting. So original! He was the whole package with his music, flamboyant outfits, and striking beauty. I had just been

Plans For 2016?

Do you have plan for Second Life 2016? Any goals or ideas to get creative? I removed the Christmas ride winterland on January 6th. It was fun to have up for the season, but most of us are relieved the holidays are over and look forward to getting into the new year. My plans for this year are to be more productive with my store, to make Penny Lane a happy place,

Being on Second Life With a Bad Computer

Have you ever tried to access Second Life using a bad computer or inferior internet connection? If so, you may have experienced: 1. Being frozen, then when you can move a barrage of text floods your screen. 2. You can’t respond to the person talking to you at the worst possible moment! 3. You’re unable to move then all of a sudden you’re on the other side of the room. 4. You

Bionic Dugi 1

Bionic Dugi is the first in a series of hilarious videos by my friend Slate McLeod. Slate has made a lot of Second Life videos and usually makes Dugi Rubble the star. This one started it off! Note: In case you’re wondering, the real Dugi did not crash. Slate used a stunt Rubble.

No one knows what it’s like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes No one knows what it’s like To be hated To be fated To telling only lies -The Who   Oscar Wilde once said “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person.
