Can Neither Confirm Nor Deny

I used to get tongue-tied when asked certain questions in Second Life, but I’ve learned a thing or two from my quiet friend LordQuantum Velaystar. Whenever anyone asks Lord a silly question, he responds by taking his cue from the CIA and says, “I can neither confirm nor deny that.”

People usually laugh, he comes off mysterious, and best of all he gets out of answering the question.

If you think about it, “I can neither confirm nor deny” is a great response, but there are times it will not work to your advantage.

If your partner asks “Are you cheating on me?” neither confirming nor denying might end the relationship.

If your boss asks “Have you stolen money from the company?” better just respond no.

Also, when a police offer asks “Did you kill this person?” neither confirming nor denying might not be your best bet.

There’s a time and a place for this clever CIA response. If used correctly you get out of answering questions like my friend Lord does. If used stupidly – jail time.
