Church of Penny Lane

churchofpennylane_001Hi everyone. Today marks the beginning of the Easter Weekend or “Resurrection Sunday” as some call it. Since many Christians celebrate during this time, I thought I’d draw your attention to the little Church of Penny Lane. It’s not a very big building and there are certainly fancier looking places in Second Life; however, this little church is more special than many realize.

Two main reasons I put a church at Penny Lane. One, it’s my way of saying thanks to God. Two, a church building is symbolic to many, so I pray that when people walk by it they’ll think of God and feel loved.

Though there are no official services, everyone is welcome inside regardless of beliefs. It’s a place of peace and prayer, and you can submit prayer requests if you have any.

Yes, there’s a prayer request box. Those who write their needs on a notecard and drag it inside the box will get prayed for. By who? Well, I see the request myself, of course, but others not part of SL will pray too. Two are ordained Christian ministers, one in Texas the other in California. There’s an Assemblies of God missionary in Tanzania, and one Australian Catholic who does mission work in India. That’s just to name a few. I know each of these people personally, and they will pray for requests individually; so if you ever have any, feel free to make use of the prayer request box.

On that note, may each of you have a safe holiday this weekend. I don’t have anything big planned, so should be in Second Life as usual!

  1. I had no idea about the prayer box, Shauna, and I’m probably not the only one. There are times in life when most people, no matter what they believe, feel the need for prayer but may have no idea how to ask – I’m sure people will appreciate this.

Here’s wishing you and those you love a happy and special Easter. *hugs*
