I admit it. I’ve been thinking about Christmas since October. The reasons why are probably a bit complicated, but the main one is this: I love colourful, sparkly, whimsical things and go giddy for shiny lights.
I spent my younger years in Chicago, and it was tradition for my family to put up a Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. I suppose Chicagoans do Christmas pretty well since winter is so cold and snowy. People need the lights, ringing bells, and reindeer to bring cheer during that time.
I know some are shaking their heads at me for being so happy over Christmas lights; I’m aware of the flip side. Many find this time of year miserable so, yes, I know everything is not all lights and cheer – and yet, I still like to take pleasure in beautiful, happy things if I can.
I planned to announce a surprise today, but I have it on good authority that Christmas stuff is better if you reveal it closer to Christmas. Therefore I am postponing the announcement for another week. I keep adding to it anyway, so a delay may be good. Watch this space!
