Dragon Age Inquisition

Lately, I’ve been engrossed in Dragon Age Inquisition which is the third installment of the Dragon Age series. Like Second Life you can find places to explore within this fantasy world of pixels. There’s beautiful landscapes as you go on quests to save the world from demons, bad guys, fantasy creatures and other various monsters emerging from a tear in the fabric of our realm (they call it a “rift”). Locations

Lost in Counting

Two Fish is an art sim with some head tripping stuff by Saskia Boddeke. In 2010 she produced an installation called Susa Bubble that was both bizarre and intriguing. Here’s a video that shows part of the Susa Bubble story. It’s several years old now, but I saw it while surfing youtube for Second Life stuff. Blast from the past!

The Escape

Most people come to Second Life to take a break from first life. They use it as an escape. I totally understand this because Second Life has been a lifesaver to me personally. When my world was falling apart a few years ago, logging in was one of the few times I got relief. No, it didn’t solve all of my problems, but it certainly helped me cope. Sometimes people

It Used To Be Cutting Edge…

In 2013, I went on a road trip in California, and when I passed through Bakersfield, I saw a motel with an interesting sign out front. “Color TV” it boasted. If that was a retro joke it was cute, but if the sign was actually serious? I’d guess it only remained hanging up because the place was run by a 95 year old hermit or something. You see, all motels

Imploding Wombats From Fnordian Link

Last night, creator Fnordian Link of Fnordian Magic & Gadgets dropped by The Killing Moon Pub to teach us how to play Imploding Wombats. This is a card game Fnord gave me to review and test, so I put it in the pub across from the Greedy table. I’ve been a fan of Fnord’s creations since 2007. He makes whimsical things like talking mirrors, robots that recite poetry, and entertaining business tools, such

Men’s Stuff For 50L

While exploring, I came across AITUI Men’s Superstore where there’s a clearance section. Everything in it is just 50L, and the clothes are mesh and quite nice looking. My friend LordQuantum got a couple of things from it. He said the only drawback was that the sizes are only in extra small, small, and medium. If you have a larger avatar these clothes might not fit you, but if you’re slim check it

Having a Good One on One Chat

We may spend time with groups of friends everyday in Second Life and thoroughly enjoy ourselves. We may even get to know people from that and grow to care about them over time. However, to truly know a person better, I believe a nice one on one chat is necessary. We can hang out with people for years if they turn up to the same club we go to. We can share jokes with them, share

The Thigh Gap Avatar Trend

I saw this picture on Facebook and thought I’d share! Though I’ve not seen too many that look like the woman on the left (that’s from IMVU which I don’t use) I’ve seen loads that resemble the one on the right. It’s interesting what people choose to look like in Second Life, don’t you think? This thigh gap shape has baffled me for a while so when I saw this in

The First Place You Visited in Second Life

When you started Second Life, where was the first place you went? I don’t mean where Linden Lab put you, but the first place you actually chose to go on your own? Where was it, and how did you get to it? What was it like, and did you stay there? When I first joined Second Life, I did not stay long where they logged me in. It was a noob place and,

A Good Reason to Friend Us On Facebook

From now on, I’ll be announcing the winner of the Bull Riding contest on Facebook and Twitter only unless we have an official sponsor for the event. If you haven’t already, you can friend me on Facebook or Follow me on Twitter. New Moonletters articles are announced there, and I occasionally  post other things, such as new outfits from Subculture, spur of the moment musings, or a silly meme.

Have You Ever Rage Quit Second Life?

Recently, I was taking one of those extremely scientific and incredibly accurate (cough) facebook quizzes to see how bad of a temper I have. One question stood out to me. Have you ever rage quit a game? Rage quit? What? I actually laughed at the question. It was the first time I ever heard that term, and I had an image of one of my kids having a meltdown over his Playstation game. My friend Slate McLeod informed

Speaking Typonese

Since I’ve been an editor, you’d think my typing would be pretty decent. Inworld, however, I can’t seem to put my fingers on the right keys at the right time. I’m fluent in typonese. It’s not that I type “there” instead of “they’re” – and you’ll never catch me abbreviating “u” for “you.” I just mean my fingers are in the wrong place at the wrong time; or rather, my mind is in the wrong

Zach Finkler Wins Bull Riding Contest

Congratulations to Zach Finkler aka Ziret Resident for getting the high score on the bull riding contest this week. I was happy to see his name there because my own had been at the top of the scoreboard this whole week – and I’m not eligible to win! Glad someone took me down! To simplify things, I will be giving 100 lindens to the weekly winner from now on. I

Is There Something I Should Know

I think in music. Every situation I get into, every place I visit, every word I read, and everything I see has music behind it. A melody seems to weave its way into every encounter. I’ve gotten dream interpretations in the form of music, and even written funny songs about my cat. For me, life has a soundtrack. When I woke up this morning, this was the song in my head: “I made a

Serendipidy Haven Builds Wigan Casino

Many of you know Seren for her own blog and also for being a Moonletters guest writer. Thought I’d give her a mention for something other than her writing today! Just about every year I’ve known Seren, she has started on some kind of building project, be it for Second Life’s official anniversary event or just her own enjoyment. Recently, she decided to recreate an English building from the distant past. a building

Tom Jones at The Killing Moon

Tom Jones aka Simon Seurat will be DJing at our local pub The Killing Moon tomorrow at 10pm-12:00 PM UK time (2-4 Second Life time). We don’t usually have “official” events at our pub, but spend our evenings there anyway listening to music, chilling out, and having conversation… Our “house DJ” Barbie Bohemian often spins tunes to save us from the radio, but it’s all  unofficial.  The Killing Moon’s slogan for

Selfies

A few years ago I needed a photo of myself for a music page, and at the time I thought it was inconvenient to have someone else take it. I preferred to do it myself because I didn’t want some photographer telling me to turn this way and that or smile pretty, etc. Getting a picture taken is stressful enough for me (no I wouldn’t make a good model, even if I were Elizabeth
